acuity 0.7. Myopia of -10 D. The colour fundus 
image shows peripapillary atrophy. The black 
area on the FAF image corresponds well with the 
atrophic area. No increased lipofuscin gather-
ings can be seen at the boarders of the atrophy. The pigment temporally of the optic disk can be 
seen as hypo FAF. treated with oral supplementation of the macular caro-
tenoids or antioxidants; such a study is at the moment 
underway within our research group. Bindewald et al (2005) classified FAF patterns of 
early AMD into eight categories: normal; minimal 
change; focal increased; patchy; linear; lacelike;
